ISSUES
Learna, a pioneering app in the micro-learning space, set out to transform workplace training by offering essential people skills through brief, impactful lessons. Targeted at both employees and HR leaders, Learna aimed to address the common challenges of traditional professional development—seen as costly, time-intensive, and often disconnected from real-world application. The core challenge was to deliver highly personalised, bite-sized learning experiences that could seamlessly integrate into busy work routines, enhancing productivity, improving team dynamics, and fostering individual growth without disrupting the flow of a workday.
INSIGHT
Learna recognised that employees thrive with strong interpersonal skills, which are crucial for both personal success and team cohesion. In analysing user personas—from early-career professionals suffering from "imposter syndrome" to HR leaders in agile, fast-paced SMEs—Learna identified a shared need for accessible, relevant soft-skill-building that bypasses the rigidity of conventional training (which usually misses soft skills (interpersonal skills) otuside of anything that isn't a formal, corporate training session which were seen as: boring, long, expensive and inconvenient. This insight drove CUT THRU and Learna's focus on delivering short, actionable lessons that boost confidence, increase likability, and inspire ongoing personal growth. Their mission was clear: to empower users to “be better” each day through consistent, meaningful improvements.
ANSWERS
CUT THRU crafted Learna’s visual identity to be uplifting and familiar, drawing from classroom nostalgia with a modern twist. A color palette of vibrant, calming tones promotes positivity, while chalkboard-inspired icons and line illustrations evoke trust and curiosity. Specific design elements ensure icons and visuals perform well in small formats, making them clear, engaging, and easy to use. This approach brings “the good old days” of learning into the digital space, blending familiar cues with a fresh, streamlined look that invites consistent engagement. The growth-focused tone—paired with concise, motivational phrases like “Today’s a good day to learn something new”—reinforces a supportive learning experience that encourages action. This balance of nostalgia and innovation makes learning feel approachable and rewarding, transforming micro-lessons into an “addictive” daily habit that users look forward to incorporating into their routines.
"They gave us a personality in a space where everyone appears to be just another boring B2B brand."
